30 Day Song Challenge: Day 23

A song I want to play at my wedding

Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine. From the Such Great Heights EP.

Now this post is borderline mush and given the opportunity I probably would have ditched it in favour of a more manly topic such as: ‘A song I listen to at the gym‘, ‘A song I’d fix my car to‘, ‘The song I play when I’m smiting dragons‘ or ‘A song I’d use to torture kids who step on my lawn‘. But rules are rules and I have to follow set topics.

I think I’d have a big wedding (whats life without friends eh?), which means lots of photos to take, friends to talk to and family peeps to catch up with and celebrate with! When there is so much going on around you moments in which your attention can be solely focussed on your new spouse would prolly be few and far between. I figure one of the moments where you would get such a chance (in a traditional manner) is when the bride and groom step out and have the first dance.

Based on my analysis of how a wedding would work for the bride and groom I’ve chosen a song that I’d play for that moment. Such Great Heights not only seems to capture that moment but also create a vacuum where everything but the two lovers fades into the background. In those few minutes there is no need to be distracted by anything or anyone else. Anyway, this is just the way that the situation plays out in my mind – in reality it would probably be completely different.

Maybe if you subscribe to this blog I’ll invite you.

P.s. This is actually a cover of a Postal Service song by the same name. The Postal Service is awesome, mainly because it is the Singer from Death Cab for Cutie. Happy listening :)
